MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
'Madhavi' Marcia Scredon, RYT

Madhavi Marcia Scredon teaches a very full schedule  but she's more committed to the path now than when she began offering classes fourteen years ago. Teaching feeds the spirit and yoga nourishes it and Madhavi finds she is continually inspired by her students.

Studio classes are heart-centered and adaptive, reflecting Madhavi’s years of training and continual re-training.  Her ecclectic teaching style is both confident and intuitive mixing the innovative and original with the timeless traditions of yoga.

Before opening the studio seven years ago she taught yoga at several area locations including schools, hospitals, wellness centers, a YMCA, a fitness center, and other studios. Her career path outside of teaching yoga included experience as a social service professional (managing the Gwinnett women’s shelter) and as an aerobics instructor.

She is Yoga Alliance certified, holding credentials for teacher trainings in Classical Hatha Yoga, Integrative Yoga Therapy, Adaptive Yoga, Yoga for Depression, and Vinyasa Yoga. In addition, she is also an experienced instructor of Kundalini Yoga who has studied with both Gurumukh & Ravi Singh. (Ravi has made periodic visits to the studio to offer workshops with his wife, Ana Brett. In addition, Yogi Hari, Madhavi's former guru, has twice been an honored guest at The Yoga Source.)

Madhavi has studied with such other well-known and respected teachers as Joseph LaPage (Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher & Therapist Training), Shiva Rea (Vinyasa Teacher Training), Tom Gillette (Vinyasa Teacher Training), Amy Weintraub (Yoga for Depression Teacher Training), Yogi Hari (Hatha Yoga Teacher Training), Sarah Powers (Yin Yoga & Buddhist Meditation), Rod Stryker (Vinyasa & Meditation), the late Esther Myers, Todd Norian (Anusara), Seane Corn (Vinyasa), Bryan Kest (Power Yoga), Erich Schiffmann,  Baron Baptiste (Power Vinyasa), and Gary Kraftsow (Viniyoga).

In addition to being a yoga instructor, Madhavi is an energy healer who is attuned as a Reiki master and trained as a Polarity therapist.  She is also a pretty passionate vegan who is committed to the humane treatment of all animals. (Her puppies Yogi and Daisy and her kitty Jinxy all support her love of animals whole-heartedly although Yogi and Daisy remain happy carnivores and Jinxy is an avid mouser.)

Madhavi moved to Georgia from Cleveland, Ohio over twenty-three years ago. Her son Chris, 26, and his wife live in Athens. Chris is a graphic artist and his wife Kelley is a high school teacher.  Madhavi's daughter Laura, 24, is a recent UGA graduate living in Santa Barbara, California where she is pursuing a career in medical sales.  Madhavi has been married for 30 years to her husband Scott, the public relations director for Consumer Credit Counseling, a national non-profit.
